Margaret Pearle, Visiting Professor for Grand Rounds and Guest Faculty at Advances in Urology Course

December 2017

The Emory Department of Urology was honored to host Margaret S. Pearle, MD, PhD, Professor of Urology and Internal Medicine and Vice-Chair of the Department of Urology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, as Visiting Professor in December 2017. She was also a guest faculty member at the department's Advances in Urology Continuing Education Course.

Dr. Pearle is recognized as a national and international leader in the field of endourology. She received the American Urological Association's Gold Cystoscope Award in 2003, and is the current Secretary General of the Endourological Society. She also has a special connection to Emory Urology, having mentored faculty members Kenneth Ogan, MD, and Aaron Lay, MD, during their fellowship training at UT Southwestern.

At Emory Urology's Grand Rounds, Dr. Pearle delivered a lecture entitled "Critical Analysis of Ureteroscopy Outcomes for Stone Disease." Her talk was followed by case presentations by the resident staff.

As an invited faculty member at the Advances in Urology Course, Dr. Pearle presented "Contemporary PCNL" and "Controversies in Dietary Management of Kidney Stones." The course was held on December 8 and 9, 2017, at the W Hotel in Buckhead, Atlanta, and co-directed by Mehrdad Alemozaffar, MD, and Akanksha Mehta, MD, MS, both of whom are assistant professors of urology.

A total of 126 urologists, advanced practice providers, and nurses from the greater Atlanta area attended the two-day course, which featured lectures and panel discussions covering the entire spectrum of urologic diseases, with an emphasis on the latest advances and state of the art care that Emory Urology provides.
