Alexandra Vazquez, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow in Health Service Psychology at the Emory University School of Medicine. She received her BS in psychology from DePaul University and her MA and PhD in clinical psychology from Michigan State University. Preceding her fellowship at Emory, Vazquez completed her doctoral internship at Denver Health Medical Center. Clinically, she uses an integrative, person-centered and strengths-based approach that thoughtfully incorporates elements of third-wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapies and Relational Psychodynamic Therapy. Her research focuses on identifying ecological as well as biological risk and protective factors (e.g., neighborhood social processes, parenting, DNA methylation) for individuals exposed to adversity with the ultimate goal of promoting resilience.
