Aida was born in Vancouver, Canada, where she spent her early childhood years, then raised in Atlanta. She attended Emory University for her undergraduate education, where she majored in Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology and instantly developed a passion for neuroscience and clinical neurology. She attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. Over the years she has been involved in various research projects including the use of optogenetics as a treatment for seizure activity, investigating the genetics of late-onset Alzheimer’s disease, and evaluating immunotherapeutic treatments for malignant brain tumors. She is thrilled to be back at Emory to continue her training in neurology - the rich academic and research opportunities, diverse pathology, ability to treat vulnerable populations at Grady, and vibrant city environment in Atlanta made choosing Emory an easy decision. She is currently interested in pursuing a fellowship in epilepsy and intraoperative monitoring. In her spare time, Aida enjoys spending time with family and friends, international travel, spending time outdoors, and exploring new restaurants.
