Mehdi was born and raised on the Mediterranean shore in Tunis, Tunisia. After earning his MD from Faculté de Médecine de Tunis, Mehdi spent two years in clinical research at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, one of the busiest stroke centers in the USA, investigating ways to enlarge the scope of endovascular therapies through clinical and outcome-focused research, and had the unique opportunity to participate in the recent landmark DAWN trial. His academic interests center on the development of new imaging paradigms and tools to improve stroke care systems with the hope of improving outcomes at the individual patient level. Mehdi plans on continuing his research endeavors as part of the Emory Neurology Residency Flexible Training Path. Mehdi chose Emory for the diverse patient population, the cutting-edge research, and the opportunity to work with well-established and friendly faculty. He envisions a career as a clinician-scientist in vascular and interventional neurology. In his spare time, Mehdi enjoys playing the “oud,” tennis, exploring the Atlanta food scene, and spending time with his wife, Donya, and newborn son, Alexander.
