Jyothi Rengarajan, PhD
Associate Professor
Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases
Emory University School of Medicine
ARTDTP Research Discipline:
The TB Research Program led by Dr. Rengarajan at the Emory Vaccine Center encompasses both fundamental and translational studies aimed at understanding mechanisms of M. tuberculosis pathogenesis and host immunity to TB and HIV/TB co-infection. The group conducts basic research aimed at identifying targets for new drugs, developing an efficacious vaccine against TB and immune-therapeutics that boost immunity to M. tuberculosis infection. In addition to her basic studies on M. tuberculosis pathogenesis, Rengarajan also conducts studies in healthy individuals with latent TB infection and patients with active TB in Atlanta to better understand human immune responses to infection.
