#RYSE Virtual Visiting Clerkship Program

The RYSE Council within Emory's Department of Medicine invites rising fourth year medical students to apply for our RYSE Virtual Visiting Student Mini-Clerkship. This two-week, non-graded virtual experience, which specifically targets students who intend to apply to and pursue a career in internal medicine (or an IM subspecialty), exposes students to a thriving academic medical center and careers in medicine. Students who apply to the mini-clerkship do not have to submit an application to Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) since this experience is not a formal elective.
Accepted students will receive:
- A faculty mentor
- A resident mentor
- Exposure to educational activities at Emory in the Department of Medicine
- Virtual exposure to clinical sites at Emory
- An opportunity to meet with residency leaders in the J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program
Applications for the 2025 cycle will open this spring. Please reach out to emorydomryse@emory.edu with any questions or for more information.
RYSE Fellowship Applicant Experience
The Emory University Department of Medicine RYSE Fellowship Applicant Experience (RYSEFAX) is a half-day multifaceted program designed for applicants to eight of our ACGME-accredited subspecialty training programs. Each program will select up to two RYSEFAX participants through an application process. All RYSEFAX participants will come to the RYSEFAX Program during the specific dates as planned per the Emory University Department of Medicine Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Advancing Success through Coaching, Equity, Networking, and Development (ASCEND) Program

The ASCEND program is designed to empower every faculty member by fostering a culture of inclusivity, professional growth, and leadership across our academic community. This program develops skills crucial for thriving in an academic environment and emphasizes the value of contributions from all faculty, including those who have been historically underrepresented. This 5-month longitudinal career development program will provide resources, information and tools important for EUSOM faculty academic and professional success. The course will feature didactic sessions, experiential components, along with peer mentoring and networking. Participants will also be paired with organizational leaders as coaches during this process. This program supports participants in transforming systems to better address the needs of their academic community and patient populations, which is crucial for achieving health equity.
Health Equity Advocacy Course

Health Equity Day

This annual department-wide event aims to raise awareness and encourage action around the systemic health disparities that exist across racial, ethnic, cultural, and social groups. The event also recognizes interventions and research across the department centered on health equity.
The virtual conference included poster presentations, a keynote address, and a narrative session. Members from the DOM and Emory communities come together to share compelling new findings, facilitate scientific exchange, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
GA Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program / Atlanta Medical Association Partnership
The Georgia Gear, Georgia’s Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP), is a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funded 5-year cooperative agreement awarded to Emory University. RYSE’s partnership with the GA-GEAR includes the Atlanta Medical Association and intends to provide Emory faculty and community-based physicians, and learners from historically underrepresented backgrounds networking, professional development, and community service opportunities.
