Looking Ahead
The Emory Perinatal Center offers comprehensive prenatal care for high-risk pregnancies and provides recommended ultrasound monitoring throughout pregnancy. Our Genetics team comprises three board-certified prenatal genetic counselors, supported by a genetic counseling assistant, who deliver expert care in both prenatal and preconception settings. Our genetic counseling services encompass preconception carrier screening, risk assessment based on family history, guidance on prenatal screening options including aneuploidy and carrier screening, and discussions surrounding diagnostic testing in cases of abnormal ultrasound findings or positive family history. We offer appointments both in-person and via telehealth, tailored to individual needs and referrals.
Refer a Patient
To refer a patient for preconception counseling, send records and insurance information to Emory’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Department with “Attention: Genetics” to fax 404-686-1652. Call 404-686-2653 for questions regarding preconception patients. Most preconception genetic counseling appointments are completed via telehealth.
*To refer a pregnant patient for prenatal counseling, patients must establish care with Emory Maternal Fetal Medicine. Please send all pertinent prenatal care records (ultrasounds reports, genetic testing reports, clinical notes, LMP/EDD, ect.) to 404-686-1652. Most patients will be required to have an ultrasound and consultation with an MFM physician prior to genetic counseling. Call 404-778-3401 for questions regarding pregnant patients. Most prenatal genetic counseling appointments are completed in person.
