During his undergraduate career, Thane was a peer mentor for the Honors College, tutored General Chemistry and Human Anatomy, assisted with cadaver dissection, sang in the university concert choir, and conducted research on lipid droplet degradation within marcophages. Thane had the opportunity to learn about healthcare within a developing country while studying abroad in Ghana, Africa and toured and performed through Italy with the concert choir. He also had the privilege of participating in a public health internship at Feeding South Dakota which sponsored by the CDC. Thane has presented posters at the CDC Undergraduate Public Health Scholars Conference and the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference.
During his year off, Thane worked as a call center specialist at the Helpline Center which answered the 211 information and referral line as well as the Suicide Prevention Lifeline for the state of South Dakota. He also served as the coordinator for a high school volunteer organization sponsored through the Helpline Center.
In his freetime, Thane enjoys drinking coffee, baking, watching standup comedy, dancing, belting Broadway tunes, binging watching anime series, crocheting, and snow skiing. Thane is honored to be a member of the Emory University Genetic Counseling Training Program and is excited to experience everything that Atlanta has to offer. He is also more than happy to answer any questions that perspective students may have. He was just as much of a wreck if not more when applying to programs.
