Veterinary Technician
Stephanie gained valuable experience by working at an emergency veterinary clinic in Savannah, enhancing her skills and knowledge. The final semester of the Veterinary Technology program at OTC involves externships enabling students to apply their skills in a clinical setting. Stephanie chose a rotation that included a veterinary neurology practice, a surgical practice, and a rotation with the Division of Animal Resources at Emory University. Upon successfully passing the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam), Stephanie became eligible to apply for state licensure and is now a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the State of Georgia. Stephanie developed a passion for laboratory animal medicine during her time with the Division of Animal Resources and aspired to pursue a career in a research setting. Consequently, she joined the Floyd laboratory, where she actively contributes to animal care, training, and quantitative sensory testing. Stephanie finds genuine satisfaction in her work, knowing that she is an integral part of a team conducting research with the potential to benefit many.
