Veterinary Technician
With a passion for working with animals since childhood, Destiny accepted her first position at a local veterinary clinic when she was 18. Destiny's introduction to neurology and neuropathic pain occurred approximately three years ago when she met her mentor. This encounter took place while working with her own dog, who suffered from a T-10 spinal cord injury. Captivated by the complexities of neurology, Destiny chose to venture into opportunities outside the realm of general veterinary practice. This quest led her to discover a listing for a veterinary technician position in the Floyd lab. Joining the Floyd lab has provided Destiny with the chance to continue working with animals, refine her technician skills, and embark on a new journey in the realm of neurology and research, extending beyond the confines of general veterinary practice.
Education
Determined to align her academic pursuits with her professional goals, Destiny switched her major to biology and pursued an associate degree in biology, focusing on pre-veterinary medicine. During her educational journey, Destiny seized the opportunity to enroll in the Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) program, bridging the gap between her associate's degree and her forthcoming bachelor’s degree. She is currently on track to obtain her license by 2024.
