Overview
Dr. Laura Oh graduated from University of Michigan Medical School and completed emergency medicine residency training at University of Virginia. She is fellowship-trained in emergency ultrasound, graduating from Carolinas Medical Center. Prior to joining the Emory faculty, she was the inaugural director of a 4 year vertically-integrated medical school ultrasound curriculum at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine.
Dr. Oh is a nationally invited speaker and received the ACEP National Faculty Teaching Award in 2024. She has been the assistant course director for the ACEP US Management Course since 2016 where she leads workshops teaching future ultrasound leaders how to negotiate for more time, money, and ultrasound resources. She is past chair of the ACEP Academic Affairs Committee, and co-chair of the ACEP Educational Innovations Subcommittee.
Dr. Oh previously served on ACEP Council and is a current member of the GCEP Board of Directors. Other leadership roles include Secretary of the ACEP US Section, Vice-Chair of the AIUM POCUS Community, and Program Committee Chair of the 2025 AIUM Annual Convention.
An alumna of the Emory IDEAS Research Scholars program, Dr. Oh is passionate about emergency ultrasound research. She is the PI of a DoD funded clinical trial related to contrast-enhanced ultrasound in blunt abdominal trauma.
During her free time, Dr. Oh loves to travel. Recent trips include visiting the Cambodian temple Beng Mealea, going on safari in Kenyas Maasai Mara, and shark diving in Gansbaai, South Africa.
