Diversity and Inclusion Week logo

Practices Not Promises: Moving Toward Action

Diversity and Inclusion Week is a school-wide celebration of the broad range of identities and experiences that make up our diverse community. This year's programming will focus on our Actionable Education Initiative (AEI), an educational portfolio designed to provide health equity resources, implicit bias education, bystander-to-upstander training and history learning opportunities for our learners, faculty and staff. To align with this year's theme of taking action, the planned activities during Diversity and Inclusion Week will be based on these four pillars of the AEI.

Join us for lectures, cultural activities, an art gallery and a SOM Block Party to cap off the week. Additionally, there will be opportunities to showcase the incredible diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work our remarkable students, trainees, faculty and staff do year-round.

9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Health Equity Day Online

Hosted by the Department of Medicine. This half-day conference aims to raise awareness and encourage action around the systemic health disparities that exist across racial, ethnic, cultural and social groups, while also recognizing interventions and research across the department centered on health equity and advanced by our community members who have been historically underrepresented in medicine.

The event brings together stakeholders from all divisions and ranks, providing a platform to share compelling new findings, facilitate scientific exchange, and identify opportunities for collaboration. The conference includes poster presentations, a case competition, a keynote address and an innovation award. All members of the Emory Department of Medicine and SOM community are welcome to attend.

Keynote presented by Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd, Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor and Director of Atmospheric Sciences Program at the University of Georgia.
