How to Prepare for Your Promotion

  • Step 1: Regularly update your promotion documents, including your CV, and teaching and service portfolios. Please do not wait until promotion time!
  • Step 2: Read the School of Medicine's guidelines on appointment, promotion, and tenure and discuss any questions with your division director or mentor. Additional information on the senior promotion process is available online from the School of Medicine.
  • Step 3: Attend a CV building workshop and learn how to best prepare your CV. (2021 dates TBA)
  • Step 4: Attend a CV review session, where a member of the Promotions and Tenure Subcommittee will help you know if you are on track for promotion.
  • Step 5: Find your PATH (Professional Advancement Tracks for Health Sciences). These PATHS were created as a guide for early- and mid-career faculty as they navigate their careers.
