STAR is a clinical research study with sites thoughout the Southern region of the United States, where women experiencing HIV burden at the highest rate according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Study Aims What is the STAR Study Looking to Learn?

Across all STAR Study sites, the aim is to recruit and retain 2,000 women of reproductive age living with or at risk for HIV in the Southern region of the United States.

The STAR Study aims to study the frequency and commonness of depression, individual and community-level social determinants of health and their impact on HIV and reproductive health outcomes for women living with HIV.

The STAR Study also seeks to learn about the effects of HIV-related medical conditions on women in their reproductive age including their oral health.
