Meet our Spring 2023 cohort
Michelle Edwards, NP
"I am an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I received my BSN from Texas A&M and my MSN from The University of Alabama. I am highly passionate about this population and have worked in both the inpatient and outpatient settings as an RN, and practiced as nurse practitioner in the rural hematology/oncology outpatient setting. I am beyond excited to expand on my current knowledge at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute. Outside of the professional setting, I enjoy strength training, yummy foods, getting out of my comfort zone, reading and traveling."
Lindsay Higgins, NP
"I graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in biology before pursuing nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have worked as a hematology/oncology nurse for the past three years, and I am looking forward to continuing working with this patient population."
Alex Lopez, NP
"I have always been passionate about oncology since the beginning of my nursing career at Emory University. I am so excited to officially start my career path in the world of oncology at Winship Cancer Institute with the ambition to advocate for more cancer survivorship clinics. I'm fluent in English and Spanish."
Tejal Patel, NP
"I became interested in oncology from working with general oncologist and my aunt having breast cancer. I enjoy the challenge and hope to have a strong foundation after the program. When I'm not working, I love do-it-yourself projects. I've gotten a hang of several power tools and hope to someday design and make my dream home. I also love listening to podcasts, reading, hiking, and traveling."
