Program Evaluation

Emory University School of Medicine is committed to the regular and frequent evaluation of its educational programming. The Program Evaluation subcommittee guides the planning, development, and implementation of evaluation instruments. This includes individual instructional sessions, courses, clerkships, phases, and the curriculum as a whole. The Program Evaluation Sub-Committee promotes innovation by designing continuous quality improvement based evaluations of competency-based medical education approaches and other emerging teaching and assessment activities.

Program Evaluation tools are distributed through OASIS (a web-based application designed to facilitate medical school student scheduling, record keeping, and curriculum tracking) to collect data regarding the efficacy of the MD curriculum. Results guide recommendations to change or adjust the educational program and ensure that stakeholder input is fully incorporated into curriculum management.

All evaluation processes by the MD program are designed by the Program Evaluation Sub-committee of the ECC
Student perspectives are collected using evaluation surveys of their experience
Student surveys are submitted via OASIS
Reports of students results are provided to course directors and SOM education leaders
Stakeholders review data from students and other stakeholders to evaluate the program and its various components
Changes to content, instruction, or assessments are made - based on evaluation data
The forms and process are reviewed periodically by the Program Evaluation Sub-committee of the ECC
