Jessica Hammett Honored as SOM Hidden Gem

October 2019

The Emory Medicine Recognitions Committee instituted the Hidden Gem award to recognize faculty whose contributions to Emory and beyond often go unnoticed or unrecognized. The honorees are nominated by their departments.

The following quotes were provided by Martin Sanda, MD, chair of the Emory Department of Urology, in his nomination letter for Jessica Hammett, MD, who was named an Emory Hidden Gem in 2019.

"Dr. Jessica Hammett joined Emory Urology in 2017 and quickly became a pivotal leader and pillar in the foundation of urological clinical care, administrative service, and teaching at Emory. She brought a contemporary perspective in her subspecialty area of female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery to the multidisciplinary teams at Emory University Hospital and the Women's Center at Emory St. Joseph's Hospital. She has received accolades from faculty and learners in the gynecology and obstetrics, colorectal surgery, and urology services for her contributions to clinical care and teaching of residents, students, and fellows.

"Soon after arriving at Emory, Dr. Hammett identified an opportunity for greater physician engagement in ambulatory care processes, and became the medical director for urology ambulatory operations at the Emory University campus, where she has become a leader in Empower Urology Lean initiatives to enhance patient care, provider fulfillment, and staff engagement."
