Dr. Gaea Daniel is an Assistant Professor, research track, at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. She was a postdoctoral fellow in the NIH NIEHS T32 Environmental Health Science and Toxicology program through the Rollins School of Public Health. Dr. Daniel completed her PhD in Nursing at Emory University with a focus on sexual health practices and disparities and the vaginal microbiome. She received a Master of Science in Nursing from Augusta University and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Liberal Studies from Mercer University. Dr. Daniel is actively engaged in the community as she seeks to improve sexual health outcomes for Black women and increase the representation of Black men in nursing.
Dr. Daniel’s program of research focuses on understanding the sociocultural and environmental influences that affect sexual health behaviors and outcomes. She is particularly interested in sexual health outcomes of Black women that present as race-based disparities, from intravaginal practices to sexually transmitted infections.
Dr. Daniel’s BIRCWH research project is titled “Sexual Health Behaviors and Endocrine Disrupting Chemical Exposures Among Reproductive-Aged Black Women: A Mixed Methods Study” and she is mentored by
Dr. Anandi Sheth.
