WEM-PWRDD stands for Women in Emergency Medicine, Promoting Wellness, Research,
Diversity, and Professional Development. WEM-PWRDD is a ground-breaking program by women for women to promote their retention, advancement, and promotion. All self-identified women within the department are invited to participate in this program.
This program welcomes new women residents, APPs, and faculty and tracks where current women land if they leave. By providing a structured pipeline or support network for women with six formal teaching/discussion modules for small groups we hope that women within the department will gain a sense of empowerment and social support encouraging them to pursue more academic opportunities. Assigned small groups will meet twice per year, read articles in advance, and participate in small group discussions. Additionally, there is a large group social event yearly.
