Actionable Education Initiative
An educational portfolio for learners, staff and faculty that infuses principles and competencies to move from awareness of internal biases and external forces of marginalization and oppression into learning about their historical and psychological origins and effects and on to growing into equity allies who actively work for and prize diversity, equity and inclusion. The resources are available in four domains: health equity, implicit bias education, from bystander to upstander and history.
Affinity Groups
To build a culture that recognizes the contributions of all individuals, including those who come from underrepresented groups, our office hosts affinity groups and affinity month celebrations.
Together We Thrive Week
A school-wide celebration of the broad ranges of identities and experiences that make up our diverse community. The week offers lectures, breakout sessions, power presentations, and social activities.
Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award
Awarded by the Office of Faculty Academic Affairs and Professional Development, this award recognizes faculty who have made significant achievements in ensuring the climate of the school is characterized by inclusivity and organizational equity through leveraging the various attributes of diversity in our community.
Advancing Success through Coaching, Equity, Networking, and Development (ASCEND) Program
The ASCEND Program is designed to empower every faculty member by fostering a culture of inclusivity, professional growth, and leadership across our academic community. This program develops skills crucial for thriving in an academic environment and emphasizes the value of contributions from all faculty, including those who have been historically under-represented.
DEIRA Curriculum
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Advocacy (DEIRA) curriculum is designed to lay a foundation of anti-racism and equip students to become DEI leaders and advocates.
Juneteenth Programming
An annual film screening and discussion on the historic struggles to secure equal and adequate access to healthcare for all Americans.
Hamilton E. Holmes Memorial Lecture
An annual lecture series named for the first African-American to enter and graduate from Emory University School of Medicine.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service
Annual recognition and celebration of people and organizations in greater Atlanta whose work exemplifies the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
