Overview
Dr. Tricia Smith is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Emory University, and practices clinically at Emory University Hospital. She was born and raisedin Kingston, Jamaica, and received her medical degree from the University of the West Indies, Mona. Her interest in global health and humanitarian emergencies led her to Harvard University where she obtained her MPH. She went on to complete her emergency medicine residency at the University of Connecticut, and trained as a fellow in emergency ultrasound at Emory University.
As faculty, her academic endeavors focus on researching point-of-care ultrasound in emergency department patients with advanced heart failure, the use of ultrasound in low-resource settings, and the development of emergency medicine worldwide. Whether through case vignettes or at the bedside, Dr. Smith also enjoys teaching the myriad uses of point-of-care ultrasound to medical students, residents, faculty, and advanced practice providers in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, and neurology.
She is delighted by her proximity to a Delta hub with nonstop flights and travels frequently. Otherwise, she can be found at her favorite barre class or wandering Piedmont Park.
