Profile

Tristram Parslow MD/PhD

  • Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
    Professor Emeritus
  • (404) 727-8657
  • tparslo@emory.edu
Head shot of Tristram Parslow

Academic Appointment

  • Professor, Pathology and Micro/Immuno, UCSF

Education

Degrees

  • PhD from University of Iowa College of Medicine
  • MD from University of Iowa College of Medicine
  • BA from Grinnell College

Research

Focus

  • My scientific interests extend fairly broadly over the fields of immunology, RNAvirology, and the molecular basis of human disease. My early work focused on the control of immunoglobulin gene expression: I contributed to the identification and characterization of the enhancers within these genes and was a co-discoverer of the octamer -- a DNA sequence motif that is critical for transcription of all immunoglobulin genes and many other cellular and viral genes.
