Focus
- My scientific interests extend fairly broadly over the fields of immunology, RNAvirology, and the molecular basis of human disease. My early work focused on the control of immunoglobulin gene expression: I contributed to the identification and characterization of the enhancers within these genes and was a co-discoverer of the octamer -- a DNA sequence motif that is critical for transcription of all immunoglobulin genes and many other cellular and viral genes.
