Tarek Hanna MD
Overview
Dr. Hanna is an expert in emergency and trauma radiology and a national leader in the field. As Director of the Division of Emergency Radiology and Trauma Imaging, he is focused on identifying and implementing best practices in diagnostic modality choice and imaging technique in the 24-hour imaging environment and streamlining the imaging timeline to ensure the highest quality patient care. As Emory Radiology's Vice Chair for Diagnostic Imaging, Dr. Hanna serves as the physician leader for clinical operations across diagnostic divisions within the department.
Dr. Hanna is passionate about resident and fellow education, and works closely with education leadership to maximize synergy between the department's clinical care and teaching missions.
Dr. Hanna joined the department in 2013 and has served the Division of Emergency and Trauma Imaging in multiple roles including Program Director for the ETI Fellowship and Associate Division Director. He currently serves as Director-at-Large for the American Society for Emergency Radiology (ASER) and has served on multiple other committees for ASER, the American College of Radiology, and the Radiological Society of North America. He serves on the editorial board of Emergency Radiology, Frontiers in Radiology, and Cinical Imaging, has presented more than 100 abstracts, authored more than 75 scientific manuscripts, and is a highly sought-after speaker.
Dr. Hanna has received numerous awards for educational exhibits and scientific presentations and was awarded Emory Radiology's Rising Star award in 2018. He also is a graduate of the Emory Radiology Leadership Academy and the School of Medicine Junior Faculty Development Course.
