Head shot of Tanvi Dhere

Overview

Tanvi Dhere is an associate professor of the Division of Digestive Diseases at Emory University. She received her undergraduate degree from the Honors College at University of South Carolina in Biology. She went on to medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Upon completing her MD, she left for Chicago to join the residency program at Northwestern McGaw Medical Center. She returned to the south to complete her GI fellowship at Emory where she joined faculty upon finishing. During her training, Dr. Dhere pursued research in inflammatory bowel disease and continues to focus much of her research in this area. She is particularly interested in ethnic differences as it relates to disease progression, treatment, and genetics. She is also trained in reading small bowel capsule endoscopy and has focused some of her research in this arena as well.
