Research

Focus

  • We ask directly which genes are important for development of the mammalian nervous system by performing chemical mutagenesis screens in the mouse. We have identified several mutant lines with defects in neural development. After identifying the novel protein, we combine molecular, cellular and genetic approaches to define the molecular mechanisms governing cell fate decisions. Through this work several projects in the lab focus on the role of cilia proteins in vertebrate Hedgehog signaling.
