Seth Force MD
Overview
Dr. Force has a national reputation as an outstanding thoracic surgeon whose research focuses on outcomes in lung transplantation and thoracic diseases. As a fellow at Barnes Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Force worked with Dr. Joel Cooper, who is credited with performing the first successful lung transplant. When he joined the Emory Department of Surgery in 2003, Dr. Force improved the adult lung transplant service's transplant survival rates by revamping its protocols and procedures. He also tripled the program's lung transplant volume.

Focus
- My research focus is on outcomes research in lung transplantation and thoracic disease Past research projects have concentrated on patient outcomes and novel techniques in thoracic surgery and lung transplantation. Current projects includes: Evaluation of outcomes in patients with Esophageal Perforation (Abstract submitted to the Western Cardiothoracic Surgical Society, and Outcomes in patient patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis undergoing single or double lung transplantation.
