Overview

Scott Steinbach, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate bachelors degree in chemistry at University of Chicago, his medical doctorate at Loyola University of Chicago, and his Internal Medicine Residency training at Emory University. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and has been a Hospitalist for 15 years.

Dr. Steinbach is the founding Chief of Hospital Medicine at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. In 2008, he was recruited by the Atlanta VA Medical Center as its first Hospital Medicine Physician to develop and organize a Hospital Medicine Section. By 2011, Dr. Steinbach had successfully expanded the program to 12 physicians, realizing the goal of creating a section that would drive the transformation of inpatient care and residency training at the Atlanta VA Medical Center.

Dr. Steinbach has interests in Quality Improvement, Patient and Family-Centered Care and Clinical Ethics. At the Atlanta VAMC, he has lead numerous Quality Improvement Projects aimed at improving the Inpatient Experience; in addition he has been an early adopter of the VAs cultural transformation to Patient and Family Centered Care. Most recently, he has been appointed to the national Veteran Experience Committees Organizational Alignment Subcommittee and was selected as one of the National Office of Patient Centered Care-Cultural Transformations Clinical Champions.
