Head shot of Steven Kim

Overview

Dr. Steven C. Kim earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine following his undergraduate studies in chemistry and music at Princeton University. He completed his general surgery residency at Emory and went on to pursue a fellowship in transplant surgery at the University of Wisconsin. He later returned to Emory to join the Division of Transplantation as faculty. Dr. Kims clinical practice focuses on adult and pediatric liver transplantation as well as hepatobiliary surgery. In parallel with his clinical work, he leads a translational immunology laboratory investigating xenotransplantation and immune tolerance using preclinical non-human primate models.

He has received numerous awards recognizing both his clinical and research contributions, including the Douglas A. Murray Award for Professionalism in Surgery and the Resident Excellence in Teaching Award during his residency. His research has been supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, The Transplantation Society, the International Xenotransplantation Association, and the American Association of Immunology.
