Overview
Dr. Sarah Johnson joined the renal medicine faculty on as an assistant professor on December 1, 2015. She graduated from University of Virginia as a civil engineer and worked in industry until she decided upon a career change and completed a post baccalaureate program and then graduated from Temple University SOM in 2008. Dr. Johnson was an internal medicine resident at Emory from 2008-2011 and then worked for a year as a hospitalist in the Atlanta area before starting her renal fellowship at Emory in 2012. She was chief renal fellow her second year of fellowship and then joined Emory at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Her interests are focused on health disparities mainly in the unfunded and underfunded population in chronic kidney disease care and she heads the CKD clinic at Grady Hospital. She also focuses her energies on the Emergency-only hemodialysis population to improve care and change policies to provide equitable care for all. She is active as a teacher to medical students, nursing students, interns, residents and fellows.
