Reema Dedania
Overview
Dr. Dedania is both a general adult and forensic psychiatrist at Emory. She finished her residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, where she served as a chief resident during her final Year. Following residency, she worked at Rogers Behavioral Health as a staff psychiatrist in the Anxiety & Obsessive Compulsive Disorder treatment programs. Dr. Dedania then completed a forensic psychiatry fellowship through Case Western Reserve/University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH, prior to joining faculty at Emory.
Dr. Dedania is the Associate Program Director for the forensic psychiatry fellowship at Emory, where she supervises forensic fellows, psychiatry residents, and medical students. She treats patients and is a site supervisor at both the Emory/Fulton County Jail Competency Restoration Unit and the Atlanta City Detention Center. She performs criminal and civil evaluations, including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, asylum evaluations, Independent Medical Evaluations (IME's), Sell evaluations, and civil commitment. She teaches and has published on a variety of topics including jail-based restoration, correctional medicine, suicide & violence risk assessments, issues pertaining to national security, health inequities in psychiatry, psychotic disorders, and malpractice.
In addition to her forensic role, Dr. Dedania is an outpatient psychiatrist at The Emory Clinic and has a focus of working with patients who have anxiety and mood disorders, in particular those who have OCD.
