Overview
Dr. Payaswini Vasanth is an associate professor of medicine at the Emory University Division of Kidney-Pancreas Transplantation. Dr. Vasanth graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India, obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery ( MBBS) degree. Dr. Vasanth completed her Internal Medicine residency, Chief Residency, and General Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Austin and Dallas. Dr. Vasanth is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology. Dr. Vasanth joined Emory University Hospital as a senior associate, where she completed her Transplant Fellowship and became an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and Surgery in 2017.
Dr. Vasanth sees patients in the Emory University Hospital Clifton transplant clinic and various outreach locations in Georgia. Dr. Vasanth sees patients with chronic kidney and end-stage kidney disease for kidney transplant evaluation and manages kidney disease patients after transplantation. Dr. Vasanth's interests include managing combined kidney/liver and kidney/heart transplantation patients. Also, Dr. Vasanth works with chronic kidney disease patients after solid organ transplants like liver/heart/lung. Dr. Vasanth rounds on inpatient services at Emory University Hospital.
Her Research and teaching interests include quality improvement and education. In transplant, she focuses on implementing various Immunosuppression protocols to tailor Immunosuppression and shift away from a "one-size-fits-all" approach. She also participates in Epic implementation, EMR optimization, Digital health, clinical informatics, clinician workflow, and patient empowerment and applies it to new healthcare delivery and reimbursement models.
