Phoebe Lenhart, MD is currently an associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine. She joined the section of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in August 2009. Her clinical interests include pediatric cornea and keratoplasty pediatric cataracts, pediatric and adult strabismus, and global pediatric eye care. She currently sees patients at Emory Eye Center and Emory University Hospital Midtown.
Dr. Lenhart received her bachelors degree magna cum laude with high honors in English at Davidson College in North Carolina. After college, she lived in Japan for 2 years while teaching English as part of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. She attended medical school at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Ga., and also completed her internship, residency and fellowship at Emory. Following her fellowship, she apprenticed with Gerald Zaidman, MD, president of the Pediatric Keratoplasty Association at Westchester Medical Center in New York. She has published articles in peer-reviewed publications and presented at national ophthalmology meetings. Dr. Lenhart currently serves as the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship Director at Emory. Since 2012, Dr. Lenhart has participated in several teaching and surgical outreach efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Research
Focus
- I am interested in providing exceptional care for children with corneal problems and in investigating corneal diseases in pediatric patients. My goal is to establish a Pediatric Cornea subspecialty clinic at Emory as a referral center for children needing corneal procedures, including penetrating keratoplasty, as well as optical rehabilitation and amblyopia therapy. My clinical and research interests also include pediatric cataract management, strabismus, and global pediatric eye care.
