Paul Chai
Overview
Dr. Paul Chai has substantial expertise in complex neonatal surgery and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Prior to coming to Emory and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, he directed the pediatric heart transplantation service and the mechanical assist device program and was associate program director of the cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Department of Surgery of Columbia University. He also directed congenital and pediatric cardiac surgery at the David Komansky Center for Children's Health of Weill-Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Chai's primary specialties include complex neonatal heart surgery, aortic valve surgery (including the Ross procedure and valve-sparing root replacements in both pediatric and adult patients), and heart transplantation. Dr. Chai often continues to care for patients he began treating as children as they grow into adulthood.
