Patricia Griffiths PhD
Overview
Dr. Griffiths is an assistant professor in the Emory University Department of Medicine, Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics, a health research scientist in the Rehabilitation Research and Development Center of Excellence at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, and an investigator in the Birmingham Atlanta GRECC. She graduated summa cum laude from Trinity College of Vermont (BA) and received her MS and PhD in life-span developmental psychology from Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Griffiths has been appointed as a research health specialist for the Center of Excellence in Geriatric Rehabilitation for Aging Veterans with Vision Loss at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. She is also an investigator for Birmingham/Atlanta Geriatric Research Education & Clinical Center, VA Medical Center.
Dr. Griffiths trains members of the Aging Sensitivity Training New Employee Orientation and Atlanta Department of VAMC EES. She has also supervised several members of the biomedical engineering program at Georgia Tech and the sociology program at Agnes Scott College.
Her post-secondary teaching involves research methods, adult development and aging, psychology and aging, and statistics courses.
Dr. Griffiths is a research representative of the Atlanta Department of Veterans Affairs Caregiving Consortium, a Rehabilitation Research & Development Committee Member of the Atlanta Department of Veterans Affairs, a Committee Member for Center of Excellence for Aging Veterans with Vision Loss Space & Equipment, a Clinical Outreach Taskforce Leader for the Atlanta Department of Veterans Affairs, Rehabilitation Research & Development Center of Excellence for Aging Veteran with Vision Loss Community Outreach Committee, a member of the Atlanta Department of Veterans Affairs Dementia Committee, a Principle Investigator Representative for the Emory University School of Medicine Faculty Development Working Group for Faculty& Faculty Needs Assessment, an Internal Steering Group Member of the Atlanta Department of Veterans Affairs, Rehabilitation Research & Development Center of Excellence, Internal Steering Group Member of the Southeast Center for Excellence in Geriatric Medicine, Internal Steering Group Member of the Emory University Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, Chair of the Gerontology Section Committee of the Emory University Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, and an Integrative Thematic Projects Lead Tele-Rehabilitation PI for the Atlanta Department of Veterans Affairs, Rehabilitation Research & Development Center of Excellence Center Renewal Grant Committee.

Focus
- The Design, implementation and evaluation of behavioral and psycho-educational traditional and tele-health interventions for caregiving dyads to improve quality of life and help older veterans age in place safely within their own homes. Additional foci include: tele-Health, sleep, depression, and consequences of caregiving (positive and negative).
