Nicholas Maurice M.D.
Overview
Dr. Nicholas Maurice received his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame in 2007. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2012 after additional research training in the Physician Scientist Training Program and as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Research Fellow. He completed Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Michigan Health System in 2015. He then completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Emory University in 2019 after completing a post-doctoral research fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Ruxana Sadikot. He thereafter joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He earned a Research Development Award (RDA) from the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2019 and a national Career Development Award (CDA-2) in 2022. He conducts laboratory research investigating the lung epithelial host response to bacterial pneumonia and investigates possible therapeutic approaches to augment this host response to bacterial pathogens. He practices clinical pulmonary and critical care medicine at the Atlanta VA Health Care System (AVAHCS), where he also serves as Director of the AVAHCS Lung Cancer Screening program, served as the site director for the VA Partnership to Increase Access to Lung Cancer Screening (VA-PALS) program, and serves as a co-Investigator within the VA Lung Precision Oncology Program (LPOP) VISN7 Southeastern .Consortium.
