Overview
Nadine J. Kaslow, PhD, ABPP is a Professor with tenure and Vice Chair for Faculty Development, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Emory School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences; Director of Wellbeing, Resilience, and Flourishing, Emor at Grady Dean's Office; Chief Psychologist and Director of the Nia Project and the Atlanta Trauma Alliance, Grady Health System; and Director of the Postdoctoral Residency Program in Health Service Psychology and Eminent Psychologist, Emory University School of Medicine. In 2012, she received a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Pepperdine University. Co-Director of the Emory School of Medicine Women's Leadership Program, she was a Primary Care Public Policy Fellow through the United States Public Health Service, a fellow of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program, and a Fellow of the Woodruff Leadership Academy. She was the 2014 President of the American Psychological Association (APA) and Editor of the Journal of Family Psychology (2010-2015). Dr. Kaslow is Past President/Chair of APAs Divisions of Clinical Psychology (12), Psychologists in Public Services (18), Family Psychology (43), and Psychotherapy (29); the American Board of Clinical Psychology and the American Board of Professional Psychology; and the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). She received the 2004 Distinguished Contributions for Education and Training Award from the APA and in 2007 she received APPIC's Award for Excellence in Postdoctoral Training. In 2006, she received a Presidential Citation from the APA for assisting displaced interns and postdoctoral fellows in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In 2013, she received Emory Universitys highest honor, the Thomas Jefferson Award for service to the community and was honored at the Grady Gala with the Inspiring Mentor Award. In 2018, she became a Distinguished Lifetime Member of Psi Chi the national psychology honor society. In 2020, she received Georgia Women's Legislative Caucus Nikki J. Randall Servant Leadership Award and Emory University School of Medicine's Lifetime Service and Leadership Award. In 2021, she was recognized with Emory Women of Excellence Award for Distinguished Leadership. In 2022, she was honored with the Emory at Grady Career Impact Award and Atlanta Magazine's Women Making an Impact recognition. The recipient of multiple federal and foundation grants, she has published over 380 articles. Her primary areas of research focus include the culturally-responsive assessment and treatment of family violence (intimate partner violence, child maltreatment) and suicide, patient- and family-centered care, post-traumatic stress disorder and its treatment, couples and family therapy, womens mental health, psychology education and supervision, leadership development, and healthcare worker well-being. A member of Rosalynn Carters Mental Health Advisory Board, Dr. Kaslow is the psychologist for the Atlanta Ballet and a frequent media guest.

Focus
- I have four primary research areas that focus on assessment and treatment: family violence, notably intimate partner violence and childhood maltreatment; womens mental health, especially suicidal behavior; child and adolescent psychopathology, particularly depressed, suicidal, and medically ill youth and their families; and education and training, with a focus on competencies.
