Research

Focus

  • Neurorepair

We study the role of the plasminogen activating system in the central nervous system. Our research focuses on the molecular pathways that neurons use to repair their synapses after an ischemic stroke or exposure to amyloid . We also study the mechanisms that regulate the permeability of the blood-brain barrier in the ischemic brain. Our goal is to develop therapeutic strategies to protect the synapses of patients with ischemic stroke and Alzheimers disease, and to prevent the development of cerebral edema following an acute ischemic injury.
