Overview
Dr. Aguilar earned her medical degree from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres in La Paz, Bolivia in 1996. She practiced medicine in rural and underserved communities in her native country Bolivia, where she was Director of Health Projects for rural communities and worked managing Reproductive Health Programs at CSRA (nonprofit organization). Dr. Aguilar obtained her master's degree in Public Health from the Nur University in La Paz, Bolivia. She moved to the United States and completed residency training at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago, where she was elected Chief Resident. She received her board certification as a family physician in 2014 and completed a fellowship in Womens Health at McNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois in 2015. Before joining the Emory faculty, she served as Core Faculty at Gwinnett Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program, Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Augusta/Medical College of Georgia and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Also served as Clinic Medical Director and Quality Improvement Coordinator at Strickland Family Medicine Center in Gwinnett, Georgia.
Dr. Aguilar joined the Emory Family and Preventive Medicine Department in June 2019 as Assistant Professor and currently serves as Associate Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Aguilar's clinical/scholarly interests include underserved and preventive care, quality improvement, womens health, and outpatient gynecologic procedures. She is fluent in Spanish and when not working enjoys hiking, listening to music.
