Megan Urbanski
Overview
Dr. Megan Urbanski is a social and behavioral scientist and and she is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Transplantation in the Department of Surgery, as well as the Health Services Research Center, at Emory University. She received her MSW (clinical concentration) from the University of Pennsylvania and worked for nearly ten years as a clinical social worker with patients in need of a solid organ transplant. She received her PhD in Public Health (Social and Behavioral Sciences concentration) from Temple University and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Health Services Research Center at Emory University.
Her research agenda aims to improve quality of care and outcomes for patients with chronic illness using community-engaged, qualitative, mixed methods, implementation science, and intervention development research methods. Her specific research interests include access to pre-kidney failure nephrology care, the kidney failure transition, patient-provider communication and complex medical decision-making, burnout and job satisfaction among the healthcare workforce, and psychosocial and ethical issues in transplantation.
