Mary Sweeney MD
Overview
Mary Ellen Sweeney, MD, is interested in the diagnosis and treatment of lipid disorders, both familial and those related to obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic disorders and diet.
Her research interests include assessment of the metabolic effects of diet and various types of exercise on body composition and glucose and lipid metabolism in patients with cardiovascular disease.
She is currently involved in research concerning the intensity of blood pressure and diabetes control and how it relates to cardiovascular disease and quality of life.

- I am interested in the metabolic effects of diet and various types of exercise on body composition and glucose and lipid metabolism in patients with cardiovascular disease. I am particularly involved in studies in patients with insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome and the effects of early intervention strategies.
