Education

Degrees

  • PhD from Universidad Católica de Chile
  • Licentiate in Biochemistry from Universidad Católica de Chile
  • BS from Universidad Católica de Chile

Research

Focus

  • The major focus of my research program is to understand the mechanisms underlying smooth muscle cell (VSMC) phenotypic modulation during diseases such as atherosclerosis, retenosis and hypertension, and the participation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the signaling pathways leading to vascular pathology. In particular, we study the molecular pathways targeted by ROS derived from NADPH oxidases in the regulation of actin binding proteins controlling VSMC cytoskeleton.
