Overview

Research Interests
-Cardiac Regeneration
-Stem cell therapy

Our laboratory focuses on various aspects of cardiac regeneration and preservation using molecular-based and biomaterials-based approaches to restoring function after cardiac injury.

Academic Appointment

  • Associate Professor of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine
  • Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Emory University School of Medicine & Georgia Institute of Technology

Education

Degrees

  • PhD from Emory University
  • BA from Rutgers College

Research

Focus

  • My research focuses on the role of oxidative stress in cardiac dysfunction following myocardial infarction. Research in the laboratory currently focuses on transgenic mouse models, and through collaborations at Georgia Institute of Technology, the delivery of antioxidant proteins and signaling inhibitors for the preservation/restoration of cardiac function following myocardial infarction.
