Michael Dattilo
Overview
Michael Dattilo, MD, PhD, joined Emory Eye Centers faculty in September 2018. He is part of the departments neuro-ophthalmology section.
His position is primarily research-focused, but he also sees neuro-ophthalmology patients and consultations.
Dr. Dattilo graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Science. He then completed the combined MD/PhD program and an ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Dr. Dattilo completed a two-year neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at Emory Eye Center. After completing fellowship, he remained at Emory on a T32 Vision Science Training Grant. His research interests focus on the interaction between intraocular pressure and intracranial pressure in papilledema and glaucoma.
He has significant training in neuro-ophthalmology and has presented research at numerous conferences, including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the Society for Neuroscience, and the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. His work also has been published in professional journals such as Ophthalmology, Nature Neuroscience, Experimental Eye Research, Molecular Pharmacology, and the Journal of Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics.
National Recognition
Dr. Dattilo is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and other professional organizations.
