Melissa Stevens MD
Overview
Dr. Stevens in a graduate of Duke University and the Medical College of Georgia. She trained in Internal Medicine at Emory University and has been a member of the faculty at Emory in the Department of Medicine since 2006 as well as an adjunct instructor in the Morehouse School of Medicine since 2012. Dr. Stevens is an Assistant Professor at Emory and a staff physician at the Atlanta VA Medical Center in the Emergency Department. She also serves as an attending physician on inpatient wards for both the Emory and Morehouse Schools of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Stevens is an affiliate investigator with the Birmingham/Atlanta VA Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center and serves as the director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety for the Atlanta VA Medical Center Emergency Department. Dr. Stevens is co-Director of EQUiPPED (Enhancing Quality of Prescribing Practices for older patients Discharged from the Emergency Department) - a multisite interdisciplinary quality improvement initiative to reduce potentially inappropriate medication use in elderly patients. EQUiPPED is currently active in 8 VA EDs.
