Overview
Lekshmi Kumar, MD is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and an emergency medicine physician for Emory Healthcare. She joined the Emory University School of Medicine faculty in 2010. She completed her residency training in Emergency Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She subsequently completed a two-year EMS fellowship at Emory University while also completing a Master of Public Health degree in global health at the Rollins School of Public Health.
Dr. Kumar currently serves as the medical director for 911 EMS systems serving the metro Atlanta region, providing guidance, leadership and contributing to quality improvement. She also serves as medical director for the Peachtree Road Race and the Publix Atlanta Marathon. Her focus is on clinical operations, care and education in the pre-hospital arena.
