Overview
My lab uses the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster to model fundamental aspects of metazoan development and disease, with a main focus on cancer cell biology and an emerging interest in development of the central nervous system.
We currently study (i) the roles of conserved growth regulatory proteins Archipelago/Fbw7, Crumbs/Crb3 and Taiman/AIB1 in the growth, morphogenesis, and motility of epithelial cells and (ii) the neurological role of the conserved poly(A) RNA binding protein dNab2/ZC3H14, which is mutated in a heritable form of autosomal recessive intellectual disability in humans.
