Head shot of Janghee Woo

Overview

Board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology, Dr. Woo specializes in the treatment of hematologic malignancies with stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.

Dr. Woo received his Medical Degree from Seoul National University in South Korea. He earned his PhD in Genetics from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After completing PhD training, he completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center/University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Woo's research focuses on understanding molecular mechanisms of hematologic disorders with a particular interest in the biological and molecular consequences of clonal hematopoiesis and developing new therapeutic modalities in hematological malignancy.

Dr. Woo's research has garnered notable recognition, such as the Paul Calabresi Career Developmental Award from the National Cancer Institute, Celgene Awards for Clinical Research in Hematology and Evans MDS Young Investigator Award for his innovative research and significant contributions to the field. Before joining Emory University, Dr. Woo held a pivotal role directing translational and early clinical research programs in hematology at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). This unique experience expanded his expertise in the development of novel therapeutic strategies, emphasizing his commitment to translating research findings into practical solutions.
