Overview

Dr. Jakob Vinten-Johansen received his MS and PhD in physiology from Rutgers and completed his post-doctoral research fellowship at UCLA Medical Center. His research focuses on device development, the mechanisms of ischemic-reperfusion injury in the heart and other organs, mechanisms of neutrophil-endothelium interactions during reperfusion, early versus late reperfusion injury, mechanisms of apoptosis in post-ischemic tissue, myocardial protection from ischemic-reperfusion injury, and myocardial protection in on-pump and off-pump cardiac surgery.
