Head shot of Jesse Jacob

Overview

Dr. Jacob received his medical degree from the University of South Florida, and completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at the Cleveland Clinic. After completing his fellowship in infectious diseases at Emory University, Dr. Jacob joined the faculty at Emory. He serves as the Hospital Epidemiologist at Emory University Hospital Midtown. Dr. Jacob also earned a MSc in clinical research at Emory, and is an associate professor of epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health.

Academic Appointment

  • Distinguished Physician, Emory University School of Medicine
  • Associate Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases), Emory University School of Medicine

Education

Degrees

  • MD from University of South Florida

Research

Focus

  • My research is focused in three areas of healthcare epidemiology: antibiotic optimization, prevention of transmission of infection with a focus on the physical environment, and assessing risk factors and outcomes for infections with multidrug resistant organisms. I study infections both at the hospital level in my role as associate hospital epidemiologist, as well at as the population level as part of the Georgia Emerging Infections Program.
