Overview
James Spivey, MD is a professor of medicine and surgery and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs, Department of Medicine at Emory University. Dr. Spivey started practicing medicine in 1983 and joined Emory in 2005 after 12 years in the Mayo Clinic system, where he was the founding Medical Director of the liver transplant program at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville.
Since joining Emory, he has worked primarily to build a hepatology and liver transplant program that would serve first the state of Georgia and the southeast region of the country. Dr. Spivey earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in Transplant Hepatology in 2006.
